Sometimes I Feel So Very Pretty

Here's my page for the ON playday at SBG.

Scraplift of Nicole's "Leonie"http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=47052&cat=all&ppuser=2524

Fonts: Arial Rounded Mt, Passions Conflict, Bickley Script
Flowers from Glittery Spots by Trish Jones. (recolored)
Swirls from Flittery elements by Lorie Davidson

These layouts were featured in the Page Maps Jan. 2008 newsltr.

This is the page I made for Liam.

A couple of weeks ago I did a layout of Liam building his gingerbread house, so of course, I had to make one of Kaylie, too. This is the first time in a long time that I make 3 pages about one single event.

Scrapbook-Graphics: Chats, Impressions of Anticipation and Challenges

I just wanted to let you know that we’re planning a New Year’s Eve Chat Fest starting at 6 p.m. Eastern on December 31st and running until 3 a.m. Eastern January 1st. If you don’t have any plans, we hope you’ll stop in for a while and hang out. There’s no schedule, we’ll just have Studio Girls popping in when they can (probably with goodies!), the Studio Crew in there joking around, and every hour on the half-hour we’ll be giving away one copy of the Studio Girls new collaboration, Impressions of Anticipation which will debut that night!

Also want to let you know that come January 1st there will be some changes happening with our Spirit Club! In addition to earning one Pom Pom Point per post in the forum/gallery, you will now be able to earn 20 Pom Pom Points for every Studio Crew challenge you complete. Just register in the specially marked Spirit Club thread in the Contest forum each month with your current post count, and then, throughout the month, add links to your challenge layouts in your original registration post by editing it. At the end of the month, you will have worked your way right up the ladder of Spirit Club prizes. Our prize package always coordinates with the Studio Girls’ latest collaboration, so totally worth working for!

Here is a list of the challenges that will continue in the new year, along with the new challenges we’ll be adding!

Frameworthy: our art inspiration challenge brought to you every Monday by Kim and Donna
I Can Scraplift That: our always fun scraplifting challenge hosted by Kait each Tuesday
We Can Build It: brought to you every other Thursday by Becky and Tammy, this challenge gives you a list of required elements that must be included on your page. Can We Build It? Yes, we can!
Memory Lane: Stephanie and Jenna host this stroll down Memory Lane, prompting you to scrap about days gone by.
Studio Starts: our weekly blog challenge continues every Friday in the new year with Color It challenges, Studio Girl scraplifts, fun prompts and a new category, List It!
Filmstrip: this is a new photography challenge that Stephanie will bring you every other Monday starting January 7th
Encylcopedia of an Ordinary Year: Jenn is taking her Reality Scraps challenge to a new level this year by having you scrap your daily life with alphabetical themes every other Tuesday
Theme Album Challenge: Karen Maggie is asking you to join her on the first Thursday of the month for this year-long challenge to create a theme album by scrapping at least one two-page spread each month
Desktop Challenge: Tammy reminds us the last week of the month to get our desktop wallpaper ready for the upcoming month

Also look for photography technique challenges from Amy, another Quirkshop from Donna and Kim, possibly an intermediate DSLR for Newbies class, another Brag Book challenge from Wendy, and who knows what else! We’re always full of surprises! So stay tuned, join in and win those prizes! We'd love it if you would join us! See you there.

Check out the SBG blog for a Freebie

Hello Everyone,
If you like the snowman with marshmallows wrap I made, check out the SBG blog to get your very own template to make it, along with instructions.

If you do make one, I'd love to see it! 1907

Printables

I made this wrap for Kaylie's marshmallows that she brought to school for the xmas party.
Text: I heard that you've been naughty, so listen here is the scoop, I'm running short on coal this year, so here's some snowman poop! :)
I made miniature tags for Liam. I then glued mini candy canes to the card. I took pity on the teacher...imagine 20 kids high on sugar running around the room! LOL. Liam was pleased with the tags...he even got to sign his name.

Lilacs - She Wore Lilacs on her Hair

This is the 2nd time that I have used this kit of Lorie’s and love the resulting page. Usually I am more of a textures and background papers person and not much into the use of lots of elements, but as always, there is an exception to the rule and this is it! I love the realistic floral elements and classic textures of the papers, which allow me to create a page outside of my norm.
Note: I made the twigs frame out of a twig provided in the Archives Collection. The main bg. ppr. was recolored to Lilac to match my layout.

Sick kids, day 2

The kids are slowly getting better. Liam's cold appears to be running its course...didn't sneeze as much as he did yesterday. They have been on a 4 hour schedule taking meds. so the improvement is noticeable.

They are both looking forward to going back to school. Me too.

Guess Who Are Home Sick Again?

Yes, both of them are home sick, again.
Liam is an allergy sufferer so his nose is always congested. Kaylie, while not an allergy sufferer, has a slightly different kind of problem...she is like a mucous factory. Enough said.

Anyway, Kaylie woke up this morning with red cheeks and was extremely hot. Her temperature was 102. She cried her little eyes out when I told her she wasn't going to school.

Liam, on the other hand, was sneezing and had a runny nose....there it goes, grab it! Runny (running) nose...yeah, I know, lame joke. Anyway, I sent him to school and get a call back an hour and a half later that 'he isn't doing well, pls. come pick him up.'

Off I go to pick him up. Wouldn't you know, when they get home, they are better, or so it seems. Anyway, here are today's freebies:

Andrea has a cute template...
Bren has a Santa hat...adorable!
Carol Abram has a doodled frame at the Shutterfly blog
Christine has some krafty stars ...check out her store specials, too.
Emily has a super cute mini kit at Little Dreamer Designs
Fran has a super duper cute ppr. pk title Coulerus D'Irelande
Lindsay has a 2photo template...
Mindy has a Worn Away mini kit...
Monika has some sparkly elements...check them out.
Pam has a Santa mini kit...
SweetMade has some overlays...
Valgal has some wordart...

This project is so easy to make and very useful, too.All you need are two circles and a brad. For this project, I made the top circle 7" inches, and the 2nd circle (bottom) 6.75". Notice the placement of the brad...it is on top of a snowflake, which makes it look like a tiny button.
P.S. And don't forget to cut an opening where the word will be visible!
I used Bren Boone's CHILLY WILLY papers and the snowmen is from MERRY MEMORIES, also by Bren. The snowmen in the blue circle is the original color. The snowman for the girl version has been altered in color...This neat contraption makes it fun for the kids to practice reading and spelling their popcorn* words from school. Obviously, I can do this straight from a list, but that isn't any fun. This is cute, cute, cute and they get to spin the circle to pick a word, which makes it fun for them.
*popcorn: High usage words that enable beginners to learn to read.
Liam is learning the months of the year and days of the week so that is what his words are all about, as well as some christmas words. For Kaylie, she is learning popcorn words, so all of her words are from a list supplied by the teacher. I used words that she really needs to practice and focus on.

Christmas Cheer is Here to Stay.

I figure since we are all in Christmas mode, that I should have the music to liven up the blog a bit.

For your enjoyment, I have selected (with the help of Liam, of course) a variety of songs to put you in a festive mood.

Enjoy!
P.S. If you don't like the one currently playing, fast forward to other selections.

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Aren't these the cutest decorations ever? I love the felt penguin and snowmen. I especially like the Santa ornament...pay close attention to the pet on Santa's shoulder...it looks like a Chihuahua. I have a Chihuahua...

I just LOVE the way this page turned out. The rubberbands were an unexpected treat for me. The curled edges are fab, too.

It's Friday...Hurray!

Oh goodness, it is Friday already. It seems that this week has been dragging, and dragging, and dragging. It is cold and foggy here today. Driving Kay to school, I could barely see a thing.

Anyway, I needed a change so I am working on a new blog header. I changed the music to something a bit happier and bubbly. I love this song! What do you think?

Anyway, if you need a good laugh today, head on over to my friend Rachael's blog. I can't believe that she would even fess up to this happening to her; I know I wouldn't reveal it if it had happened to me. :)
